Guffanti's best seasonal offers

Situated between 1300 and 2200 meters in altitude, the Alpine pastures produce in the heart of summer a greatly reduced amount of amazing cheeses. For 125 years, our trade has been to know the places, the people, and the traditions, in order to select the best of the best of Italian cheese production.

Crampiolo, an Alpine pastoral place high in the Ossola Valley

The Alpine pasture of Bettelmatt, high in the Ossola Valley

The epic Alpine pasture, "antique" cowbells make a handsome display high in the Crana Valley

The primary material of the best cheeses of the world

The historic dairy houses being renovated to meet to new sanitary standards

The queens of the Alpine pastures

We too are in the Alpine pasture! Not many, but the best, thanks to the good air and the scraps of the dairy farmer

Nature here indeed doesn't reserve surprises

The copper boiler, art and tradition of the mountain communities

The tools of the dairy farmer

Forming of the curd right in the boiler

Wringing the curd

Hand filling and pressing the forms of the Ossola Alpine pasture Toma

Pressing under blocks of stone

Seasoning begins in the high altitude cellars

A Guffanti man follows each phase of work right on location

The descent of the forms from the Alpine pasture can begin on the back of a mule...

But one must admit that the helicopter is a much more expedient means!

Let us suggest a short itinerary for an outing in the hills of Val Bognanco, in Ossola, with the added dimension of a dairy experience. This walking tour starts from S. Bernardo, which may be reached by car. The hike takes about an hour and a half, though if you request permission you can do it by jeep. Follow the path leading to the Monscera pass, through which you can reach the Vallese Canton.

This scarcely populated valley is surrounded by year-round snow capped...

Just past the Gattascosa shelter, you come to the Monscera...

The structure is up-to-date with modern sanitary...
